I am new to the photographic world and for some reasons it seems to attract me in recent months. I am keen and willing to learn photography and grateful if anyone could give me advice on the following :

1.) if I want to start off with DSLR, will 20D be too much for an amateur ? Should I start off with a 300D and by the time my skills improve (say in a year or 18 months), then buy the next generation of 20D (may be a 30D) ?

2.) How many and what type of lenses are needed for an amateur ? I understand that getting into DSLR will involve money pumping in continuously.

I have try those. 300D is fine for all new DSLR comer. Image is fine and the function is enought. For advance user. I think is more better.

If you have budget, 20D is a very good choice, better than 300D and D70.

Cheaper choice :
20D + kit lens
Sigma 70-300mm APO Macro Super II

For landscape choice:
20D + 17-40mm L
Sigma 70-300mm APO Macro Super II

For the people who like tele lens:
20D + kit lens
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L

For the people who has more money to invest:
20D + 17-40mm L + Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L

20D is much better. 80% of 1DII's functions but just 1/3 the price.

If you pay for quality, you just cry once.
