All Brother:

I want to buy 400M DC within HK2,500 Budget. Please give some
suggestion which DC are better for the beginner.
My choice are neither Sanyo J4 or Caiso Z40

How are u going to use it and what's your preference on its size, features, quality (of pictures)... ??

you can try Z40 water good, I think around $2200

Canon A-Series all-round performance and functions justify its little extra weight; a really good camera for beginner and those who want more serious shooting (however pls just consider A80 and A95, its flipable LCD is essential in taking great shots)

Ricoh R1 is on the other hand a lovely and tiny DC, its 5x zoom (starting from 28mm) is soooo unbeatable in its class; it's light-weghted, easy to use, though its quality (esp. noise control) is worse than Canon DC...

Panasonic FX 7 has a lovable OIS and using Leica lens... quality photos... 2.5" LCD screen is good for viewing straight after a shot (yet its irrevelent for good quality pics)...

Don't know about Casio and other brand stuff... but I think the above 3 options give you a thorough view for you on what you're considering =p
