Please remember that the operation of DSLR and DC is a bit different.

For DC, when you use internal flash, the shutter speed is set to 1/60. Therefore, the background will usually under exposure.

For DSLR, suppose you use AV mode, the camera metering by the background, so the shutter speed would become 1/20 etc. The internal flash is used for light up the people and not for the background.

For the reason why the shutter speed become very low in your home, it is because the light in your room is very weak when compare with that of the sun. So the camera need a slower shutter speed to capture the background light!

Nikon D70 is a very good entry DSLR when compare to 300D,
but Nikon D70 and Canon 300D are good entry DSLR.
for DC, nikon and canon using the same ccd from sony,
however, I do not like Nikon DC due to the saving speed is too slow and the outlook of the product are not smart enough(looking too old).

EF鏡用在300D上是x1.6焦距，但如用專for數碼單鏡
如Sigma 18-50mm DC的鏡是否無此焦距之分別？

whatever EF/EF-S lens mount to this kind of DSLR
18*1.6=28.8
55*1.6=90
for image size, 18mm=18mm, but viewable angle will become 29mm range(film/full frame eqv.)
but if you buy Sigma 18-50 DC lens, you cannot mount to a film SLR or 1.3X cmos SLR, using this kind of lens with those cameras above, you can see dark corners in the picture.
