You can try threaten them that you are going to the small claim court.
Afterall, when you gave it to them, it was in good condition but you did not get it back in good condition.

What airline is really a dick.
During the sars period, my wife missed the JAL flight because JAL did not inform us the flight schedule was changed although we had confirmed the flight two days ago. JAL claimed they infromed us but because they do not "record" the conversation, they said they did inform us. I even wrote to the CEO and did not anywhere.
So I will never travel with JAL again.
Anyway the damage looks easy to repair. I think you can do it yourselve if you have the parts.
