其實係自家CMOS已經有NR FUNCTION,
即係好似已經內置"Neat Image",
相信用過Neat Image會明白,
出黎o既效果的失真度...

CMOS的NOISE 的確比CCD多好多,
CANON 的CMOS也不是甚麼特別設計,
但CANON全力放在on-chip noise reduction
的確係省錢的做法,
但盲目的消費者沒看清楚事實就亂評擊的確無知!!!!!!
評擊E-300高NOISEo既人,
我相信如果你o地想映靚作品都唔會用ISO 400以上...

Canon engineers developed three new technologies for their CMOS sensor: on-chip noise reduction...

The new sensor has an amplifier in each pixel to convert optical signals to electronic signals. The unevenness of those amplifiers causes noise that has a fixed pattern. To eliminate the noise, Canon engineers developed on-chip noise-reduction circuitry that reads out the mixture of noise and optical signals in 10 milliseconds and then pure noise in another 10 ms. When the pure noise is subtracted from the mixture, a pure optical signal remains.

Random noise is another problem. The noise is due to the unevenness of the initial level of optical signals at each pixel. Canon engineers improved the pixel structure by transferring electronic charges completely to reset the initial levels of optical signals and noise in each pixel.

The programmable gain amplifier is the first block integrated on the sensor chip to take advantage of the CMOS process. The amplifier eliminates noise and reads out signals at a speed of 12 MHz.

Moving forward, Canon engineers have two major goals in mind for the next step in CMOS sensor development. One is to develop a larger sensor with a higher resolution. Another goal is to develop system-on-chip ICs that integrate the sensor with various blocks on a single chip.

If CCD really excels in large size sensor, Sony (see the recent news) and Nikon (LBCAST sensors) will NOT focus their research and engineering efforts in CMOS anyway.

However, Canon engineers proved to the world that large sensors from CMOS have better quality and lower price than CCD.

If KODAK or SONY can produce large size CCD that can match the quality and price of Canon's CMOS sensors, Canon will use them in 350D or 1DS MarkII just like those in G4, G5 and G6.

It is purely an engineering and manufacturing problems. CCD now only has advantage on smaller size sensors while CMOS excels in larger ones.

20D而家個NR function係要自已開,唔同以前10D係define自動會開,但唔開NR 20D noise都比10D低左,如果內置左仲使乜自己開?

88888888 : You cannot say so as there are too many professionals and users like me that like the Canon CMOS especially in ISO800, 1600 and even 3200.

In Internet age with tremendous information being available in near realtime, anyone including you cannot cheat so easily.

It's money problem, large CCD can develop but price is high! No company can include large-size CCD in D-SLR because high price, company sell COMS because they can earn more money than CCD, not engineering and manufacturing problems.....

Based on your assumption, CMOS is cheaper but have higher noise and hence Canon is cheating you right?

Why Nikon and Sony do cheat you the same way using their own CMOS then? They can't do it since they cannot solve the noise problem in CMOS. But Canon CAN and PROVED to be correct in eyes of the whole world except you. You must a genius!!!

But why all of us sees E-300 have higher noise than 300D except you? You must be genius again haha!!!!
