85/1.8對影人像新手是比較易, 臉形影出嚟較好

用得85mm原本都唔係用來映全身架啦！

兩支真係各有各好，無論散景同透視感都有唔同，加上唔同焦距，室內用50mm加1.6xcrop其實已經好吃力，對面坐隨時得番大頭，85mm更加得番塊面！但室外就可以兩三米內有全半身with 50mm同大頭/半身with 85mm，如果買一支先，50/1.4會機動性強一點，但如果純粹戶外人像，85/1.8晌操作上(內對焦設計令對焦時前鏡頭組不會轉動，加CPL便方便特多，ring USM對焦速度會快一點)會方便多些，而個人感覺焦外成像亦係85/1.8好一點．

I prefer 50mm f1.4 too. The super wide aperture is irresistible. The shorter focal length is suitable in indoors with limited space.

Another question: does the 50mm front elements rotate while focusing? So, does it cause problem when using CPL?

No don't think so

50/1.4's front element does not rotate when focusing, but will come out when focusing near object.

除了焦距上的分別, 影出來的質數會唔會有分別呢 ?

因為聽人說 50mm 比 85mm 影出來有種壓迫感
如果影人, 用85 mm 會好些

是否真的 ?

It's inevitable to have pincushion distortion in tele lenses. I wonder whether the face of a person would appear thinner if we take pics with a tele lens eg 85mm or longer. At a short distance, if we use a wide angle lens, the person will appear as a big head monster. x...x! Also, since the 50mm is regarded as the standard lens, does it mean that there is no distortion (or no detectable distortion), and "what you see is what you get"?

但興distortion 關係不大
(打個比, 同是24-85和24mm , 兩支distortion 表現應不盡相同吧)
