I am the middle-hand-user and have a D-SLF Canon 350D with kit len(EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6). Is it really valuable to buy a EF 17-40L f/4 for update the image ???And how about the image of EF 17-40L f/4 ???

This 17-40L f/4 range not different.Don't waste money for it.

Get the best result from the kit lens first. The L-lens mentioned is mainly for wide end only. Get the L-lens when you're able to tell the difference from both lens at particular aperture values and focal lengths.
