If you search around this forum, you will find some "D50" picture samples taken by a gentleman called simon. I had a look before and the picture quality of his D50 is pretty impressive to me.

If you would prefer a DSLR that isn't as bulky and heavy (like myself), you can consider the Pentax ist DS/DL.

I never used the 350D, so cannot comment on it.
