本人係新手一名，準備買20D淨body，但不知買甚麼鏡頭配合，但錢有限，只可買選擇以下：

選擇一) canon小白，
選擇二) canon EF 50mm F.14 + canon EF17-40 F4 L (或是sigma18-50 F.28 EX DC)

本人想學習拍風景及人像和寫實，請各專業會員指導！

Choice 2 may be OK, but dont u need a tele for landscape photographs?

17-40L用落APS-C並無你想像般"神", x1.6令佢大材小用 XD
如果新人, 建議先買平鏡抵鏡試試, 例如:Kit lens, 50/f1.8, 50/f1.4 .....
另外要注意小白?重量, 所以小小白比小白受歡迎
更專作人像鏡有85/f1.8, 135L, 85L, 散景效果會比50/f1.4佳, 但比較難?室內用

17-85 IS 係一支少有?汎用鏡 -- range夠用, 輕快, 17mm?IS, 好多情?都影到
50/f1.8影人像當然比一般zoom理想 (小白系列除外)

Is it worth to invest in the 17 - 85 IS cos't it costs almost $5K in the 1st hand market?

3千蚊 有18mm全程f2.8, 速度ok, 少偏色少變型, EX係sigma?上級質素

17-85 IS is my mostly used lens. 95% on my 20D.

Optically not as good as 17-40 but I think that it covers mostly used range, has IS to prevent hand shaking and avoid the pain of changing lens.

This is the lens you need if you are learning to take photo as me.

Kit lens +20D Raw to jpg use DPP. 18mm ,F7.1,1/40 sec,ISO 400
Canon EF 75-300 IS USM + 20D Raw to jpg use DPP .300mm ,1/80sec(IS on),F8.0 ,ISO 400

To me, it's worth to invest the 17-85 IS. Reasons:

1. I prefer original brand (no 3rd party options like sigma, tamron, etc)
2. a single walk-around lens for most of the situation. Not quite likely to bring along a bag of lens for outdoor photography (not my style)
3. it should be as versatile as possible. Such as range, IS, USM, etc.
4. not too expensive (middle price level is ok)
5. medium to high optical quality

As a result, the 17-85 IS is the winner. And L lens is not my choice.

ps. It's believed that I would not consider FF DSLR in the near future, therefore EF-S lens is ok for me.
