I m wondering whether to use the Landscape mode to take the night scene - for Canon's EOS DSLR.

Because they dont have a night scene mode in the camera, just the night portrait (and the landscape).

Is it possible to use the night portrait mode to take pictures of night scene (w/o a person as subject)?

When I used the landscape mode for night scene, the built-in flash did not pop up and the picture underexposed. But in night portrait mode when I shoot just the landscape, the pop-up worked perfectly. So I wonder whether I should use night portrait mode to take night scene?

You shouldn' use any of the preset modes, use Tv/Av instead.

Landscape mode does not trigger the built-in flash since no matter how powerful the flash is it can't shine the whole "night scene". It is not supposed to be used for taking protrait or photos with an "object".

Then why do you use flash? I don't understand........you cannot use flash shine the whole sceneary....

影landscape一定唔用閃, 唔pop-up係正常
唔影人, 夜晚landscape用閃會導致曝光不足
玩得DSLR, 我建議學?用Av / Tv / M mode, 尤其是特別情? (e.g. 夜攝)

夜間由於有很多燈光,多數情況下會誤導相機測光系統引致曝光不足.但不應靠閃燈去加光,正如上面網友講用閃燈係冇用的.你應該用曝光補償糾正相機測光結果.
而且就算你不介意閃燈冇用.胡亂用閃燈會令白平衡跟咗閃燈,張相會變咗勁紅.

nite scene 耍睇個景光暗分布是否平均.

分布吾平均, 對住個景既"最光"部份測光, 就會 whole picture underexposed.
