The reason why I don't buy DV is because I won't watch the movie that I took ! It waste too much time to watch the DV la ! Instead watching photos was way faster ! If the movies takes up too much space in your PCs, delete some lor ! Ask yourself whether you will really watch those movie or not ! Otherwise you are just wasting your space !

又要馬兒好, 又要馬兒不吃草! 拍照片拍DV都係同一道理, 若你每次拍了不選一些好的留下, 差的DELETE, 多大的HARDDISK都有一天會爆! 這個只是數學問題, 若不捨得DELETE, 以現時來說唯一解決方案就係用DVD的DL, 一次可以燒下你三四張2GB CARD, 但又要人唔提! 奇怪! 將來的Blu-Ray or HDVD大容量咪只會讓你拍得更多, 到時你又會覺得2GB唔夠拍, 要買張8GB, 但總有一天你都會話唔夠用!

No edit for the family video will not arouse your interest to see back the video. Actually the most insterest thing in each video clip are just 10%. Edit the clip can solve your problem of storage, but another problem coming is you don't have must time to do so.

IMO, if you are taking the movie for your son to "look back" his childhood, you can stop and forget it. Don't think about replay it on his 18th birthday. One simple question, how many times have you watched your wedding tape after probably the first 1-2 years of marriage.

When he is still sort of young (below 12), he may think it's fun to watch it. The only chance he is interested in these old tapes probably is when he gets married and preparing the video for his wedding banquet. But he also has a problem of facing hundreds of unedited tape.

Believe me or not, the tapes will be more important to you and your wife to recall those wonderful moments when the boy has grow up, married and has his own family.

Can't agree more to this!

But I wonder, taken 20GB movie in 5 days, 20G movie means 11 hours of movie! I wonder if every minutes of your movie is worth to keep.

Just take these movie you and your wife found interesting. Reduce redundant movie, which is easily happened when you're shooting in digital.

其實以一般的生活片斷而言，人家的attention span不會超過5分鐘，所以我孩子的DV也以2至5分鐘為一段。如果是拍孩子在學校表演則另計，因為你希望記錄整過過程，但最好都係剪短些好。

你最好叫屋企人來電視機前看你的DV，然後time下他們幾時離座，就知應該剪幾長啦。我寧願將一個較長片斷剪一個短版本，再保留一個長版本，公諸同好的看短版本算啦，自己唔怕悶就看長D啦。
