This is an old trick I use for film scanning. Whenever dust is spotted on film, instead of going through the traditional painful cleaning process, I use a product called Tack-It by Faber-Castell sold in stationars (surprised!). Just wash your hands with soap, tear a small bit and held it by a pair of tweezers, then stick the dust out one by one. It leaves absolutely no residue (unless you have oily fingers) and far cheaper and easier than any fliud based methods imho. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I don't know or try this method but i recommend don't use metal tweezers, using plastic instead & do it very carefully.

Don't be mistaken, "Blue Tack" is NOT "Tack-It". They are made by 2 different manufacturers. Blue Tack is lower quality stuff which leaves residue behind, Tack-It doesn't. The use of plastic tweezers is a good idea though.
