Is it true that Canon's has better quality than sigma's? Regardless IS and USM, price of Canon is definitely more expensive than Sigma's...

How much is that Sigma APO 70-300? As a beginner, I don't want to invest too much, the Canon's cost $5xxx and that's almost the price of the DSLR itself. But I just worry if the quality of Sigma 70-300 is fine enough to take pics during night time also? (assuming I have a tripod)

Beancurdbean, my demand is not very high as I am a beginner. I am thinking to get either one of those. As a beginner like me, do you think i can't really see the different of the quality from using these two lens?
Besides, how about in the shooting process? which one is easier for me to handle?

1) I tried both, EF70-300 IS really sharp & better colour than sigma
2) EF70-300 IS 有防手震, 可以在室內及暗情?使用

要揀邊支就要你問自己:
a) 無錢 --> Sigma
b) 少用 70-300 --> Sigma
c) 室外多 --> Sigma
否則, EF 70-300 IS 都可以考慮免再upgrade

you mentioned it's better to use sigma for outdoor? Why? doesn't Canon's have absolute advantage compare to Simga's (ignore the price and weight factor)?

I am used Tamron and Sigma 70-300 before.

To be honest, I think both of them perform quite good in day time. I can't tell much of a different between them.

However, they hunt like crazy in night time - small F stop, no HSM/USM, etc.

Really wtfgray? But i would love to shoot photos for both days and nights. If i use simga 70-300 with a tripod? can it help even there is no HSM or USM?
