I just get that cable release from sony,
有半按快門 及 on/off , zoom 制 can't be applied
on R-1 since manual zoom ring, 手感 普通,
但絕對 much much better than the new silver one,
btw black one is not discontinue but out of stock,
listed price $290, I have got 20% discount $239.00 ^ _ ^

I don't have external flash at this moment,
anyway for 家庭 purpose, internal is OK for me,
for seriously picture.........
I'm not so sure taking with flash is suitable for me

I called Sony today they said no stock for the cable release but new stock is coming and no need to pre-order. How can you get 20% discount? Is it because you bought the R1 from Sony Shop? if no discount for me I think 290 is quite expensive :(

congratulation to you for your new macro lens. It is not at my priority list but I'm still interested to see your macro pictures with it!

Sony offer me a one time discount 20% for
preorder accessories (cable release and macro lens)

Due to late shipment of that macro lens,
sony let me pick up cable release first, then offer me
once again 20% discount upon pick up the
macro lens

i have seen that cable release in 星際 $260
compare with discounted price $232
I think both price is OK !

What is you 1st priority ? ^ _ ^

Cable release but preferably cheaper. Second hand is OK,

A better tripod. I currently have a Slik Sprint Pro which is too light for a windy situation. I intend to buy a Manfrotto 190 or a Benro. My budget is under $1000 including the head. I don't need a carbon fibre one as it's too expensive.

external charger. I hate to open the rubber lid of the charger inlet of the R1. I might get a second hand for $200 next Monday.

Which shop? I asked the 'Sony' one but he said no stock. This was the shop that told me the old version cable release was discontinued!

Plus a Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head $420
(A good ball head MUST have a BIG ball) ^ _ ^

I think that "sony" shop in 星際 you see is the same one as I said.
But Sonyshop at cwb told me that (RM-DR1) cable release
is not discontinued, may be two / three weeks later.

Since you are ex-F828 user, have you got extra lithium battery FM-50
I just have keep one original sony FM-50 before sold F828,
plus the one from R-1, now I got two FM-50

So I am really interesting on external charger you said.
but is it safe to buy such charger in second condition ? ^ _ ^

For general use, do you think ball head or 3-way head is better in performance and more convenient to use?

I am getting a 90% new RM-DR1 for $150 probably next week.

In fact I was a 717->828 user. I had 2 FM-50 but sold with the 717 already. Then I bought a 3rd party FM-50 for the 828. Now I have that 3rd party and the original FM-50 for my R1. I think if you have only 1 battery it is more convenient to charge inside the camera, but if you use two batteries then it will be more convenient to use an external charger.

I don't think a second hand charger is not safe as it is an original one, but i doubt with a 3rd party battery. Therefore to charge a 3rd party battery with an external charger is at least safer. :)

ball head much much convenient and fast action
3-way head could adjust precisely, but too slow for me

choose a ball head with SUITABLE FRICTION could make it
adjust precisely,

tripod could use something in low price,
BUT BALL HEAD MUST GET A GOOD ONE ^ _ ^
