Questions always come up like this...which camera is better?

Is there a camera better than the other in all aspects? Perhaps not. Like this comparison, is S80 better?
- S80 does not support RAW;
- S80 does not have mega OIS.
Is LX1 better? No, it has poor noise reduction especially under high ISO JPEG.

I think that the more appropriate question should be "which camera suits me?" However, we do not know your experience, preference nor intended use. People would suggest their preference (not yours).

S80 and LX1 are not new while there're lots of information in the web. If I were you, I would search to see any "merits" and "drawbacks" of using these cameras to match your needs.

tyuen I share your view. Too many ppl here simply ask "which brand/camrea is better" without saying what they need and how is their budget. Rather than asking questions like that, why not surf the web and study the information? There are so much info out there waiting for you to explore. If you want to buy a camera, it's your responsiblity to do the homework instead of relying on responses here. People here often have bias in favour of the camera brand they like, and you can never get a clear idea of "what is the best" at the end of the day, since there is no such thing as "the best". Please think more before you ask.
