1. Would like to ask C Hing to share comments on the noise performance of your using DSLRs on the following criteria.

- long explosure
- high ISO

Amoung Nikon, which model has better noise performance? (I am using D50, feling is not bad but no chance to compare.)

S3 Pro - is it good at this?

Or other DSLRs are good / bad at this?


2. Heard that CMOS has better noise control than CCD (same size/pixels). Is it right??

I am also using D50 and happy with its noise control...

I agreed with man1492 unless you're willing to spend a lot of $$ for the
top model like DSLR D2Xs , otherwise, the diffference is slightly. .

the best nosie controll for not so expentive is can on 5d
the execllent one is 1ds mark 2<but price to high>

normally nosie controll leveli think is
1>canon
2>nikon
3>fujinfilm
but some high level machine like nikon also have a big noise like d2h

noise controll they can use some electronic controll system <like chip set and programing>
but the best solution is using a big size cmos or ccd<like full frame or biger
so why we have to use dslr becasue the sencor is bigger than the dc machine

始終每粒像素夠大先有真正低noise,靠軟件除noise點都會影響細節.
D2X暗位可以出得非常好,不過係低iso之下.甚麼高iso noise reduction一睇就知唔係好野.
Nikon唔做FF又要出旗艦機,消費者唔會接受低像素,夾硬出搞彎左部機.

unless you are interested in eletronic engineering, or like to " smell " the photo by 200% crop.

I used D70s, noise is stronger than you, I am okay to use ISO 800, unless under exposure a lot, noise is not so obvious...
