which is better: Nikon D40 or Canon 200D? and where are they selling at the cheapest price???

baby photos characteristics: moving people, mostly indoor pics, will not use flash .

Can on 200D ?

Babies certainly are not moving people, they may only turn their heads, or move their hands, but not moving anywhere. Under these circumstances D40 may be capable to serve your purposes.

However, in 2 or 3 years time when a baby grows to a 2-3 years old kid, you need to upgrade your D40 in order to capture some images of a fast moving kid.

A fast lens is required if no flash is used.
