帶passport比錢前第比個店員.
不過我朋友話d店員英文好鬼屎,最好去前學定兩句日文旁下身好d.
上次我朋友係問定d 識日文的朋友, 用紙仔寫定兩三句必用的日文 (如想退稅, 幾多錢..)要用時第比d店員睇.. 成間店舖最好英文的就係 負責收錢的有位靚女姐姐仔. 佢好似姓: 寺田.

I had had bought a few times cameras and digicams in Tokyo. I did not have any tax refund issue since everytime when I gave my passport to the shopkeeper, they would waive the tax right away while filling out a form. This only happened to my camera input, not general stuff in department stores. You should ask the shopkeeper for detail in order to save time at the airport.

Hi, nfever,

When I did my buying, mosty in Akihabara, I usually asked the shopkeep if I'd need to pay the VAT and his answer was always asking for my passport and then copying down all the info in a form. And all I needed to pay was the figure both of us agreed upon. Believe the best way would be bringing the passport with you wherever you go and ask whenever you'd need a clarification. Pickpockets in Japan seems far less than that in our mother country.
