40D is a good choice but you may want the 5D mark II as well, wait until Nov when Canon may have news for you.

I am waiting both 40D to cut price (when D300 come out) and see what 5D mark II will be.

thanks for your info. 40D is clearly better than 400D in terms of picture quality. Cannot tell the exact difference. More "details" in the pics from 40D. Exposure is more "even". Better exposure detection. More 3D feel. More saturated colour. I cannot imagine how 5D will be like.

I only bought 400D for 2 weeks. Now I am thinking upgrade.... Crazy.

I should improve my skill first. By the way, which DSLR bodies do you have?

I have 300D (lent to my friend), 400D and 5D. I don't want the heavier weight of 20D and 30D but not major different from 400D, but 40D is quite different now.

Would buy 40D later this year or early next year (wait to price cut) but if 5D mark II price is attractive may forget about 40D direct to 5D mark II.

All depends on price.

When you have FF and APS-C, they will serve different uses, just like yesterday I went to airport to take airplane photos, I mounted the 70-200 on the 400D instead of 5D so that it become 'longer' and I have a big plane on the photo.

As regards the focus problem, is it just 400D? Or higher models like 5D also suffer the same problem.

Just played 40D at Canon TST during lunch. In terms of build quality and button layout, 40D is just like the higher models.

When compared with 400D, the button layout of 400D are more user friendly and more convenient. The shutter sound of 400D is more crisp than 40D. But 40D is just like the higher models in many aspects. Maybe I am used to 400D and am biased. No doubt, the pic quality of 40D is clearly better than 400D (from viewing the photos at various threads on internet).

Would you mind sharing with us some photos of the planes? You took them at the airport or some spot close to airport?

What is the advantage of FF?

By the way, the zoom lens (200 or 300mm) of Sigma and Tamron seem quite okay if you consider the prices the their light weight. I am a small guy and with small hands. So light weight is good for me. The pictures of zoom lens of these brands seem quite ok.

Is there any good place to shoot nigh views, apart from TST and the Peak? If possible, I would like the place not too far away. I am on the HK side.

How did you post such large photos? I use photobucket. but they always cut down the size of my pics. so my messages in this forum always show smaller pic than that uploaded by me.

5D will produce a more detail photo and more 3D look as people say, shorter depth of field this is good for portrait.

I took the airplane at Skydeck of Terminal 2 and it costed me $10 with no time limit.

Photos need to be posted later, still in the CF card.
