想問一下個hood係咪design俾FF機用?

APS-C 機係咪用唔用都冇分別?

Yes, the hood is for FF body you may try to use the hood for 24-105 (you can buy China made product in SSP) which can fit in 17-40 but more useful on 40D.

There will be no black corners for hood of 24-105 on 17-40 with 40D as 17 x 1.6 = 27.2mm so when you use 24-105 hood it is design for 24 mm on full frame therefore NO black corners on APS-C bodies!!

or does it also help in other situation?

i have a hood which comes with my 70-200mm. when should i use the hood? or should i always put on the hood?

Long time no 'talk'.

As ditigal sensor is more sensitive to glare and lower contrast than film so any other unwanted light sources will affect the quality of the picture more serious than film.

I personally always put the hood on, you have already paid for it why don't you use it and it is useful as well. Unless you want to have special effect on your photos caused by glare or to reduce the contrast.

yes, we paid for it already. i will try to use the hood to see the effect. sometimes i feel it is too bulky to carry.

there is another problem. i don't know whether you have come across this kind of problem or situation. i took some landscape pics in one afternoon on a hill. it was sunny. some of them appeared a bit reddish, just a little bit. i don't know whether it is because of the auto white balance effect or because of my Tamron lens. i suspect it is whte balance, right?

If you use auto white balance it will have some incidental that the white balance is not accurate, you may use sunny white balance instead of auto.

Learn to shoot in RAW and you can play around with all those settings in DPP whatever you want, even it shoot by Tamron.

I am not sure which body used in 17-40 with the 83H hood on it and have light lost on 17mm.

I check it on 400D with 17-40 and hood 83H, I am not able to discover any different at all ie. NO light lost not in 17mm and not in 40mm

May be 40D are different.
