:) since those 2 are not that super cheap, y not try dslr or dslr-like cameras....
nikon d40 is a fair choice, yes only 6mp for d40, but you can learn a lot from that, far more then a compact cameras like gx100 and lx2......

also if you do the printout with a4 size (8r), i bet you wont see the different btw 6mp vs 10mp..... unless you wanna print a fullsize poster (btw, whose going to stick his noise to the poster to pick the flaw........)
when u r done with the d40, u can just keep the lenses and other stuffs n jump up to the upper stage like d80 or d300.

sorry, forgot to tell, if really must pick one btw richo and pana, then get the richo gx100, the flash shoe is something very important......
but richo flash shoe is also used to attach the optional electronic viewfinder, really a down point.
richo use cf-cards, very common for most of the high-end cameras, so you dont have to buy everything again when u deside to upgrade your camera to something better.
