since im going to have a 2 month trip to europe!
& im now owning a canon 30D body & Tamron A16 standard lens!

... But i think i needa buy another tele lens to suit the needs.

im now considering the followings
canon 70-200 f4 (but it's a little bit to big & heavy)
canon 28-135 IS USM (is the quality of this lens good & 135mm enough or not?)

anyother suggestions? how abt the 3rd party's? tamron, sigma, tokina ...

p.s. i'll stay in farm for abt 20 days, so i want a tele lens to portrait the animals

I think you should buy a wide angle, especially there are so many architectures in Europe. I went to England 2 years ago, I took Canon 10-22 and a 50mm f1.4 with me only, no zoom!

I use Tamron 18-250mm. Compact and relatively light in weight. Only 4xx g.

At 250mm, the largest aperature is f6.3. But from my experience, I needed to use f8 at 250mm to give sharp picture. Since you need to use f8 or smaller aperture at 250mm, it would be good on sunny days. Otherwise, you need to push up the ISO to get fast enough shutter speed. But this should not be a problem for Canon bodies.

Overall, this is a quite good lens. Price is about $3xxx. I bought at around $3400 a few months ago.

For outdoor pictures, I will suggest EF-S 10-22 and 24-105 4.0L, both of them are very sharp.
