usually if you buy cam at shops like dcfever
they will take a full white and full black pic as a primary check for you

i bought my d200 from dcfever, they didnt preform such full white and full black pic as a primary check for me boor,
because it was the first dslr i bought, the sales check everything for me.....
but lucky, my d200 and the lens are all fine, no 死點 no dust :)

Last year I bought canon S3, the sales do it for me :)
anyway, you can do it yourself, or ask the sales to do it for you
pretty easy ~
