Choose S45, if you want a "Point and Shoot" camera.
Secondly, the outlook of G series is ..... ugly.
Thirdly, if you want large aperture for low night no flash indoor photo, then choose Olympus C4040/5050, since at high ISO, Olympus is better than Canon. Canon dc at high ISO are very bad.
P.S. maybe I am too "anti Canon" haha...

Yes ! If you want snap shoot DC, then S45 is better ! But for more professional DC and take better photos, then G2 is better !
Yes, Olympus have higher aperature but since it doesn't have NR function, so I think Olympus still have shortness !
