If you like it, just go for it. I tried my friend's one and here are my hands on experience:

1) Very good workmanship,
2) Very bright range finder.
3) Excellent 28mm lens - sharp corner to corner and very low distortion.
4) Poor AWB
5) hopeless high ISO performance

買 leica m8 要買埋 " 測光錶 "....

個日係山頂見兩條友.... 揸住部 m8 測光好似吾多掂.... 問我部 dslr 測到d乜.

I don't think you need to buy any light meter. The meter in M8 should be OK. You need to learn how to adjust it in difference lighrting condition.

M8 唔係普通影友買o既，你鍾意就買啦，唔使問...亞貴。

用了大半年,給你一些個人意見作參考:

1. 經濟考慮
全新價仍要約$3300,在加Leica鏡頭,最便宜的summicron 50/2易手都約$6-7K;summicron 28/2又過20K, summilux 35/1.4近30K,要wide 些的16-18-21連viewfinder近40K

2. 1.33X
不是fullframe的,鏡頭焦距乘1.33倍

3. RF、手動對焦
影近景有誤差、對焦也考考眼力

4. 快門聲
與Leica本身的菲林M系比,M8的快門聲太吵了!下月起代理可換新安靜shutter, 但快門由1/8000減到1/4000, 連更換LCD塊screen, 盛惠11K。

1. 不用買測光錶,內置測光好準;不準只因不懂測光吧!

2. AWB:upgrade 新firmware後好準了。

My repsonse:
(1) Agree
(2) should be very bright "viewfinder", it is a characteristic of RF camera, since the viewfinder is independent to lens apeture.
(3) So many excellent lens from Leica, not just the 28mm.
(4) AWB performance is good now after upgrading the new firmware.
(5) Agree, just so so performance in high ISO, of course cannot meet the standard of Nikon D3.
