Hello chings,

It has been many years that I have not been to wedding dinner. I wanna to know the current price (I mean red pocket) for wedding dinner at normal chinese restaurant as well as at hotel function/ ball rooms.

In the olden days, I know it is $500 for chinese restaurant and $600 for hotel.

And how about kids? Same as adults?

last time i discussed with my friends and concluded that $600 is ok for normal friends, $800 for closer friends, u know, u can't contribute $700 as it's not good to give somebody "seven" on his/her good day...

If $600 per head, then I + wife + kid = $1,800 ... very expensive, almost can buy Canon 430 EX !!

Anyway, back in my wedding 10 years ago, he came with his girlfriend and he do $1000 for 2 persons. During that time, we are close friends. But these 10 years, we not even meet once per year.

With inflation, I am just thinking whether $500 per head is adequate. But taking into consideration I am going with wife + kid, so already have to give $1500.
