exposure of a picture is determined by mainly these two factors, aperture size and exposure time, in general the smaller the aperture opening, the longer the exposure time u need to get the correct exposure, and vice versa.
so aperture prority is you choose aperture size and the camera automatically choose the shutter speed, and shutter prority is u choose the shutter speed and the camera automatic choose the aperature size you lor.
