Appreciated if anyone can share advice for me.
I am considering a 2nd dc for my wife.

budget $2-3k.

easy to use, light weight
uses CF card
uses AA rechargeable battery (preferably)
some simple manual features.

actually if AA not yr one of yr consideration, I think V3 is a good choice

I think A70 is too big and not too trendy for girls.

I was also thinking about the same choices which you too mentioned, Canon A70 and V3 or IXUS400 (slightly $500 more that budget.

Personally, i think A70 is not bad, low price and with 3Mega. But the 4 batteries are a little heavier but it can last for longer shooting which is a plus. And it is with many shooting mode compared to V3 or IXUS400.

Previously i have considered the Nikon 3100 which is also small and light. But it is out because no sound in recording video and heard that it batteries do not last long (around 80mins).

With slightly higher budget, up to $3,500, I have considered two other models, eg IXUS400/V3 and Minolta F200.

Any comments on good and bad points !

Canon A70 - 3MP, more manual functions
Kodak DX6340 - 3MP, more beautiful photos and easier to use

if u r considering F200 as well, i think it is a good choice for you, beside it is using SD for storage. It is light and samll with all manual control. I m F200 using and it is very good for me.

The only thing i concern for F200 is
- price ?
- SD card (expensive than CF)
-batteries not as lasting.

battery depends on what type n brand u use, i recommand sanyo 2100 n Panasonic 2000.

i think i will keep my choice within Canon A70, IXUS 400, Minolta F200.
F200 price seems very attractive because it has many manual features.

Will need to goto shop and test these models for its functions.

IXUS 400 is only a dumb dc, no manual functions
if you want many manual functions and cheap price, u can choose A70
