its still a gem, i am doing some web searches to try get more info. on it now.

here are some of the high lights,

1. reliable build quality which match the best Contax / Leica
2. light and compact
3. fully mechanical
4. have mirror lockup for macro / landscape photography

things i would like to 'warn' is the use of old mercury batteries, which is about to be extincted, and the relatively scared supply of OM lens.

personally, i think HKD 1,400 is a little over-priced, you better check other 2nd hand prices in TST. i have got my used minolta x700 for same price, but with a 50mmF1.7(i have never used it), a 28mmF2.8 and a 75-150mmF4.

對 OM-1 來說
沒有電池只會影響測光錶還是快門也有影響 ?
(印象中 OM-1 只有機械快門吧 ? 但不很確定)

另外
OM-1 $1400 原來已經算貴嗎...?
我知道二手的 OM-3 Ti / OM-4 Ti 貴很多喔..
就算沒有 Ti 的也不便宜....為什麼差那麼多 ? @@

thats again the power of internet, i haven't did anything.

if the info. in the web resources are not wrong, it will still work perfectly without battery, but you just missed the built-in light meter. i.e. you can still use it if you read off the exposure settings from other light meter or other camera with you.

thats always i did as well, my x700 don't have spot meter, so i rely on my wife's coolpix 5000 if i need to measure a finer spot.

yes, according to all the web materials found, it only featured a mechanical shutter, so you can only use it in M mode.

3Ti and 4Ti is much newer professional model and more feature packed, so its expensive for good reasons, as far as i know they both feature the modern TTL flash automations, and 3 being legendary mechanical body with multi-spot metering (!) which not found in a lot of most advanced systems. and if i didn't remember wrong, the Ti means they are made of titanium, another (!).

yes ar, i personally its a little bit pricy for practical photography, but totally justified if you take it for collection.

to take advantage of the light and compact body, i will try to build it as a fast snappy street photography system. load it with high speed negatives (for the wide exposure latitude), a reasonable fast wide angle (so that you don't need to frame very precisely to get your object in the picture), then it could be a anytime / anywhere camera for street and travel photography ar. ~ thats what many people used their Leica M for.

for this reason, a 50mm F1.7 isn't v. practical to me, and i will rather see it offer the body only, say for HKD 1,000 and then i go source for a 28mm or 35mm F2.8 lor.
