A family allegedly allowed their toddler to defecate on the seat during a flight from Beijing to Detroit.

Flight attendants and passengers on board the Delta Airlines flight tried to have the child moved to the bathroom but the parents and grandparents were insistent, it was reported.

According to the Daily Mail, the parents spread a newspaper on the seat, encouraging the child to relieve himself right there.

Passenger Luolan Gang Wang told Chinese Sina News that an odour filled the plane and passengers were complaining and outraged.

Many Chinese passengers turned to social network Weibo to complain and condemned the family for shaming their homeland.

Comments of disgust continued as Weibo came alive last week when the incident occurred.

“Disgrace to the Chinese people,” one user wrote.

This comes after a small boy was photographed going to the toilet in the aisle of a plane during a domestic Chinese flight in February this year.
