Anybody here use leica R lens on Canon DSLR? i heard people saying that you can use R lens on Canon but have to buy a mount, are there any problems?

yes, thats possible, though i haven't tried it out personally, as both R lens and the adaptor is pricy, its LEICA at the end of the day.

and know from friend's friend's real experience, manual focus is extremely difficult, besides, pls. refer to the link above for other issues, though as far as i know, there isn't much except you have to do stop-down light metering.

pls. share the experience if you really go over these, btw, which R lens do you already own and planned to be used with your EOS?

actually these leica lens are over 20 years (my fathers), i dont know if they are still better than those EF lens from canon.
i think they are 50mm 2f, 135mm 2.8f & 28mm 2.8f
i just check today and the ring (r lens to ef mount) is like $1000 dollars
he wants to get a eos 10D and if leica lens is going to cause problem than i think he will just leave it.

i can't remember where i heard this, but seemingly the EOS 30, 33 will have exposure problem with manual lens, and so maybe 10D will have problem too, as as far as i know 10D is heavily based from EOS 30,33.

my friend's friend in Tokyo is having success with his D60 and 1Ds with Contax manual lens.

and if your R lens are maintained properly, they should be as good as 20 years ago.

I have a minolta MC 50mm F1.4, its still one of the sharpest lens in my little collection, I reckon thats older than 20 yrs.

i am still deciding what to do since the mount itself is $1000 (i can get a canon zoom lens for this price), i am just a beginner so dont know if i can take good photos with manual adjustment.
by the way, the guy who is trying to sell me the mount, said that my leica lens only worth about couple hurdred each! are they really that worthless now?my dad told me each lens is at least $2000 (20 years ago)

R lenses do work on EOS,except R-24/2.8 and R-35/1.4.
The adapter is about USD150 from Novoflex,Germany!!
You can use nikon -AIS lenses on EOS too!!
But the best is M42-carl-zeiss!!
