The different is very big in term of distortion at 17-20. If you use the wide end a lots, then 17-40 may not satify you. Moreover, the color of 16-35 is a lots solid than 17-40.....If you have budget, go for the 16-35...

Hmmm, someone posted a similar question a few minutes ago.

For me, I have a 17-40mm f/4L on 5DM2. At 17mm with FF it is awesome and wide enough for me. Would I like f/2.8 instead of f/4? Absolutely. Would I pay double for the 16-35mm f/2.8L for that? Probably not.

How about distortion? I am not that particular and can't tell enough of the different between the two. How about color? I believe move around to get better light will make up the different.

But again if money is not much the concern, the choice is clear. :)

今日入咗1740 too,is great pq,but expensive b4 price,i buy today in boardway 5880,and b4 i have 1755 2.8,same pq i feel,but very to get dust(i very mind),so i sold out,but just mean pq,really same 1740,but 1740 is cheaper~just 4.0 and no IS
