there's no manual exposure control on 420EX... only the auto E-TTL I or II

All of us know a 2nd hand flash may have a shorter usage life than a brand new one. BUT for those price-sensitive brothers, a 2nd hand flash is a good choice because

1. the flash gun (Xenon lamp) can at least least over 50000 flashes, a 2nd hand flash (unless it is used by a pro) is not likely to flash over 10000

2. CANON flash & its motherboard is very very durable, my 2 550EX used over 6-7 years still workable, no any problem.

3. 2nd hand flash of CANON can still be resold at a reasonable price. My 550EX can still be sold @$1200-1500, my 420EX can still be sold @$800

If u are an amateur, u can safely buy a 2nd hand 220EX, 270EX, 380EX, 420EX, 430EXI/II without any problem (as pro seldom use these models)
