拋磚引玉 and here is mine:
OS: Windows 7
IMAGE FORMAT: Raw
ORGANIZATION: Lightroom (have about 20,000 pictures now and still catching up on tagging)
RAW PROCESSING: Lightroom with Canon Camera Calibration (as good as DPP).
PIXEL EDITING: Photoshop Elements if absolutely needed but I don't do much pixel editing these days (Raw -> PSD)
PRINTING: Convert Raw -> JPEG from Lightroom and take to local printing service. Ink is way too expensive for printing myself at home.
WEB SHARING: Lightroom Web with Fotoplayer Engine. Upload gallery directly from Lightroom to my own hosted web site. Raw -> JPEG by Lightroom in the background.
Network Backup: Backblaze for on-line backup.
Good thing with Lightroom is I don't need to keep a JPEG version of the same image in my Lightroom library since all the post processing are done non-destructively with the original Raw images. JPEG are only created for printing and web posting as needed and mostly happening in the background automatically by Lightroom.
Bad thing is with Raw format it is 26 MB per picture for me and it takes up lots and lots of room in my PC hard disk (200 GB so far). Also it needs a fast CPU with lots and lots of memory to run Lightroom and Photoshop Elements effectively.
So what is your Work Flow story?

Thanks for share!
OS: MAC
IMAGE FORMAT: Raw only
ORGANIZATION: Lightroom (have about 20,000 pictures now and still catching up on tagging)
RAW PROCESSING: DPP only, easy to control
PIXEL EDITING: Photoshop CS2, only when I find that the photoshop could help, but seldom save PSD file as it is too large
PRINTING: Convert Raw -> JPEG from DPP and take to Fotomax. Choosing Fotomax because they accept small amount printing even 1 photo only. I always print few small size photo in one 4R.
WEB SHARING: Facebook. To share my art work with friends
Network Backup: No network back-up.
Harddisk Backup: 2 HDD, I really affraid that HDD would fail, there4 I save 2 copies. I only store RAW file and Perfect for view JPEG only, very very few PSD.
I like the MAC. Year ago I bought it because of the colour is exceptionally good. Eventually I found that the OS can give me stable and fast photo processing.
I like the colour control in DPP, I can get good skin tone colour with it. And may use photoshop to make good the high dynamic range photos and do a little touch-up on the skin for girls.
So what is your Work Flow story, other Ching?

Thanks for sharing h000. Surprised you didn't say Aperture as a Mac friend :). I used Aperture on my Macbook for a while and I like both Aperture and Lightroom.
I have been using DPP for a while too and have just recently switched to Lightroom for Raw processing and Lightroom has become the core of my whole workflow now. It was a hard switch since all my previous changes in DPP doesn't carry to Lightroom.

I have Lightroom as well, but haven't put much effort on it. Therefore I still stick with DPP.....
Btw, what do you feel about DPP vs Apeture vs Lightroom ?

Re: 請分享 workflow Post time: 1 月 20 日 |

I have been using DPP for about a year and it served me well. I switched to Lightroom a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. Lightroom simplifies my work flow a lot. Consider prior to Lightroom I was using Picasa to organize, DPP to process Raw, from time to time I needed to export to JPEG and use Photoshop Elements to do free form rotate since DPP doesn't do, and export to JPEG and use JAlbum to do my web posting. Now I can do all these tasks in Lightroom and mostly better.
Many folks say DPP processes Canon Raw better since it is from Canon itself. I believe that too but to me I can't really tell much of the different anyway. And since Lightroom now supports Canon Camera Calibration add-on, I feel even more comfortable with Adobe Camera Raw now. And Lightroom provides a lot more fine grained control although I have not played with most of them just yet.
As I mentioned, the bigger issue I have moving from DPP to Lightroom is the changes that I made to my Raw images in DPP will not be recognized in Lightroom.
As for Aperture vs Lightroom it is more like the classic debate between Canon and Nikon :). If you are committed to Mac, there is no reason to not go Aperture since it integrates so well with rest of OS X. It is more like a Mac religious thing. For me I picked Lightroom since I picked PC as my desktop.
Hope this makes sense.
