And for L zoom lenses, what is the biggest aperture (F)? Is it F2.8?

1. No, many L lenses do not bundle with the lens hood in Hong Kong market. Unfortunately, the web site of Canon(Hong Kong) has not mention it clearly. Meanwhile, In Canon(USA), it had clearly marked that the lens hood ET-86 of SWIS cost US$65.00

2. Yes, the largest aperture of L ZOOM lenses if F2.8

I have limited to the followings but still cannot decide.
I think I have to go to the showroom to try (I think I can try at Canon Showroom?)
Different people (friends/forum/teacher) have different recommendations !

(1) EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
(2) EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
(3) EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
(4) EF 28mm f/1.8 USM
(5) EF 35mm f/2
(6) EF 20mm f/2.8 USM (newly added, someone recommend to me in this forum)

If I finally choose (4), (5) or (6), then I think I will continue to use my kit lens together.

In 1 year's time, my daughter will graduate. So have to think of a tele also, but not so urgent now. 70-200mm with 500D (x1.6) should be long enough to take photos in the ceremony (I mean from my seat to the stage) ??

Congraluation to ISO100 Ching, the 328 is great but it is heavy and expensive. I don't know my 'shooting bird' action will be how long, so it is better to buy 456 and save some money for another new lens...........hehe

All L Lenses should be better than "non original brand".

I have never tried a L lens before as I don't have one and all my friends are using cheap canon lenses.

I will trust you guys that buying a L lens will have no regrets.

Most likely I will buy small small white with or without IS next year (for my daughter's graduation ceremony). So now if I buy 17-40 L that means I will have 17-40 and 70-200, so I don't have 40-70 range, will that be an issue? On the other hand, if I choose 24-70 L or 24-105 L, I will cover all ranges.

But up to this moment, 17-40 L is my first choice because it is much cheaper than 24-70 L and 24-105 L. The money saved can buy another lens.
