New 550D and EF50mmF1.4. Have forward focus issue: aiming at objects about 3-5m away the AF resulting actual focus spots 3-5 cm closer/forward. I did quite some test and this issue is consistent.

Here is my setting
1) AF ONE-SHOT
2) Single central AF point, or other AF points
3) Metering mode SPOT
4) Also tried using the area close to the AF point instead of right on it to aim the object.
5) Updated the firmware to 1.08

When shotting things that is very close, say around 1m, the focus spot is quite accurate. Also this issue is not significant when using my kit lens (18-135mm) might due to large maximum f stop.

不是，是焦点有许许近，所以物体有点发虚。是对焦不准。

如果你指係在LCD 上，看到對焦點前咗或不準，可以影完放在電腦上，再比較一下。

如果實在仲係咁，襯住仲係新機，連機連鏡攞上去CS，揾師傅幫手check 吓仲實際。

Thanks. I am from mainland, studied at HK. Not sure if everyone could see simplified Chinese characters -- switching back to English here.

I checked the images from computer screen, and done quite some tests -- the problem is very consistent.

Not sure if it is lens problem or camera's. Better camera like 7D etc could do micro--adjustment for AF, but 550D does not have this option. Just curious if anyone know the cause -- I read from some forums that it is actually not very uncommon (the focus issue for a AF SLR camera with multiple lens) but no one gave a convincing reason ...

Aperture using F1.8 or F2.0. Never goes to F1.4.
I have been taking photos for years never get so many blurred pictures. As a matter of factor, I rarely get out of focus problem so I am quite sure it is a focus issue.

Guess go to CS is the best choice :) Thanks again.
