iSuperBen, if you want this to be your carry-around lens then make sure you are okay with the Sigma size and weight. Nikon 50 1.4G is much lighter.

I used to have the 50mm/1.8D, sold it. Now I have both the 50mm/1.4D and the AFS-50mm/1.4G

I think the the 50mm/1.4D is already very good in terms of sharpness and focusing speed. But my experience with the AFS-50mm/1.4G is that it is even a little bit sharper and the focusing is more accurate. Focusing speed is about the same with the D (which is still not very fast) but I get 50% more correctly focused shots with the AFS.

Focus accuracy is a problem with these fast 50mm lenses due to sperhical abbreviation and focus shifts issues. That is why Nikon developed this new AFS 50mm more than any other reason. So the real strength of this lens is better auto-focus accuracy!

Many thank for your opinion, I hope wish have both,
but I like Nikon AFS 50mm F/1.4G first, because I used the DSLR is D300,
I think is perfect kit, any senior any comment, pls reply.
