impossible but if you focusing at a flat area

if you are talking whether the auto meter of focus point can be always turn on, the answer is yes. Adjust under C2 of custom setting menu.

The 51 focusing points of course work at the same time, but the camera chooses the nearest object.

even it provide 5100 focusing pt, you still use one. So, I find no. of focusing point doesn't affect the photo quality.
