Today try the real product in MK, basically good, fast focus speed, bright LCD, light weight, Live view same as DC...... everything better than I expect. $6880 with 4G, Tripod and bag.

This "look like a toy" DSLR actually is good for carry whole day and picture quality 100% "NOT like a toy"

Taking photos many years...... such light weight with such high quality is very very good....... consider to buy, highly recommend

Most of the function same as D90, just no internal motor, I don't like nikon's old lens, so ok for me.

I also tried D5000 in MK B...Way today.
Hand feeling is good. Monitor can rotate, Foucing speed is acceptable (with kit lens). I feel that the weight is in good balance.

I compared with 500D,
D5000 is much better.

PS: I am Canon user.

Can I use AF 50mm f/1.8D with this model? Does it have autofocus?

I am considering D5000 with a Prime len and a
AF-S 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED VR.

Is this a good option? My main aim is to shoot child. I do not usually need a long telescope and I don't like to carry too heavy camera.

I used Canon 350D with kit len and 50mm f/1.8 in the past.
Initally I am waiting 500D but the liveview function of 500D seems terrible. It cannot focus when liveview is on!
I have tried D90, the focus is terribly slow with liveview. The focus speed of liveview of D5000 seems a little bit better than D90.
The articulated LCD is quite useful for me to shoot children from low angle.

My another consideration may be Sony A500, but dunno if they have a cheap prime lens with big aperture?

如果要有自動對焦 D5000 只可支援 nikkon af-s 的鏡頭,
因D5000沒有機身對焦摩打, AF 50 1.8 放下去只可用手動對焦,
如果真的玩此BODY影小朋友,建議你選用,
AF-S DX 35mm 1.8G,或 AF-S 50mm 1.4G,
不過前者大缺貨,亦只合DX機,價錢平很多,
後者貴,要4千多元,不過可免除日後升後FX機的煩惱,
要玩大光圈,又要平的話,只可手動啦^^
本人也是D90用家,也是用KIT LENS AF-S 18-105mm,
此鏡以入門級別來說,不錯的,當旅行鏡用,不過有要求的話就另作別論啦,
如果你多是幫家人,小朋友拍照的話,又要自動對焦的話,直接買大光圈定焦鏡啦,
說到 LIVEVIEW FOCUS,我好少用到,我想兩部機也差不遠的,(都是慢..= =)
用FACE DETECTION都幾下玩既,
D5000 功能跟本就是 D90,當然機身,設定,會有些不同,不過D5000
大部份既SPEC都沿用D90的,真的是沒分別的,
最大的分別的就是.......D90有機身對焦摩打,
我都心癢買哪一支大光圈定焦鏡中,
我也考量 AF 35mm 2D 或 AF-S 35mm 1.8g ><

d5000 (同 500d) 一樣 "縮水 dslr", 最好俾十零歲小朋友用.

d5000 新加 "high key"... "low key" scene modes 幾好.
不過噤多 "乜mode物mode功能".... 新手買左都未必知點用....?

Actually is there any difference between the speed of body motor vs len motor?

I think I can consider D5000 +AF-S 18-105 and AF-S 35mm 1.8
The 35mm 1.8 seems very difficult to buy.

On the other hand, is the quality of AF-S 35mm 1.8 much better than the cheap AF 50mm 1.8? The difference between them is equal to the difference between D90 and D5000.

PQ 方面 我相信 AF-S 35 1.8g 會好一點,
我也在覓它的芳蹤 v v" 都不知幾時返貨...............
如果真的決定 D5000 的話,AF-S 35 1.8G 是你的必然之選 0.0,
不過有銀根多的話直上 17-55 2.8,咁支kit鏡跟定焦都可以慳返 ^^"
影小朋友,自動對焦怎都好一點的,(大師級例外)
我在頭痛中 AF 35 2.0 定 AF-S 35 1.8G
是因為好多師兄都力推前者是一支好鏡,
新鏡又沒有太多評語.
