Used it for about one month. This is a good lens, but really big and heavy. I am wondering the PQ and color compare to Sigma 18-50 2.8. If not too far off, I may consider down grade.

Any recommendation?

if you already have N17-55/2.8, and you don't want your money back, no point to change to sigma!!! i don't think sigma is much lighter when in use.

Agree with lisztian Bro.

If you are after the f/2.8, no matter what brand you are using, you have the prepare for the heavier weight than the normal zoom lens.

I was using D80 + 17-55mm f/2.8 and shooting all days long at work. Never find it is heavy. It is just a matter of getting use to the weight.

You can consider selling off the lens for some money back and it shouldn't be a problem. But I don't think you gonna find another lens can give you the quality as Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8.

I wonder why you going to sell the best lens in DX series due to its' weight.
My wife and son (10 years old) using this lens with my D50 and did not raise any complaint on its weight. It is just a matter of 'get use to it'.
I think Sigma could not give you such a good quality.
If you insist to buy Sigma, I suggest you to buy Sigma and don't sell Nikon first. Take some picutre and compare. Then you decide to give up Nikon or not.

17-55mm f/2.8 is a really really good lens. keep it la. Otherwise, you will regret after selling it.
