extension tube: increases the magnification by increasing the sensor to rear element (glass) distances, advantage (cheap, light), disadvantage (very short distances between the front element (glass) to the object so that lighting is a problem; magnification also magnify the defect of the lens)
conclusion: extension tube for play only
macro: designed to optimum close shooting distances, higher contrast, longer distance from object, BEST picture quality
conclusion: macro lens is a must if u want to enjoy macro photography
