If you buy it new, should go bor VR II.

If you buy it used, I would still go for VR I.

Don't just look at how much you pay. Look at the resale value too. Think about it. Get an used 18-200VR. Use it for months or longer. Resale price won't drop a lot if you want to sell it. But you enjoyed the original Nikon equipment plus the nice pictures that you took.

So the cost of "using" could be the same as the Tamron.
