Some C-hing complained the Nikon AF-S 105/2.8 micro VR lens as what KenRockwell described:

"......My biggest concern is that it's very hard to get precise macro framing because the image size changes greatly (breathes) while focusing. You need to use AF-C and move yourself in and out to frame. You can't move yourself and then focus, because the image size changes so much that you can't frame unless you're in focus. This may seem silly, but it's a critical issue for macro use, and a big pain when you focus manually as most macro shooters do......"

I do not have this lens. I really don't understand why and how the image size can change rapidly (like breathing?) while focusing, since it is not a zoom lens. I can't imagine why it is impossible to have precise macro frame unless the object is in focus. Can the problem be solved if manual focus mode is used instead of AFode?

I have the old Nikon AI 105/2.8 macro lens. I don't have such problem with my manual focus micro lens.

Can any C-hing encountering above problems with Nikon AF-S 105/2.8 micro VR lens enlighten me?

缺點:
- Focus Breathing - the image size changes greatly (breathes) while focusing.
(經常走焦) 是一個很serious 的problem...
- VR does not work in close focus at all !!!!
- expensive lens that does not focus well in macro range...
- Calibrate 枝鏡都冇用
- 當你focus 唔到上面的優點 = garbage!!!!!!!!!

感受：For all-around use as a general-purpose tele, this 105mm is Nikon's best yet.
However, definitely NOT for professional macro shooter ( I am a D700 user)
買來主要影花影butterfly 的, 但好多時在日光的時候, 對焦真係對到想爆粗同火都來...$*@&$
有乜理由一枝$ 6180 macro lens, 比我枝$4000 的 70-300VR 仲難對焦.... d image 變大變小, 真係想唔lun用佢....

我肯定枝枝105vr 都係咁... 因為有reviewer review 過, 我開頭都唔信... 好後知奶野.... @($*@
