Finally back into Australia from my 3 months stay in HK. With no internet connection at home in HK, can't resist to upload some photos from my recent trip once landed in Australia.

Bern - capital city of Switzerland

We arrived late Bern in the late afternoon. Just had enough time to run to this lookout to capture the after-grow of the sunset. But still, very beautiful.



Jungfraujoch - 11,333 feet above sea level. Top of Europe

It is freezing cold over here with wind chill effect. We went out for a few mins and I felt wind wipe some tear off my eye. A min later before I go back indoor, I felt something stuck around my eye. I realise that's my frozen tear

Exactly!!! almost zero pollution. Hope it does last forever.

All these panorama are stitched by no less than 8 individual photos to achieve the 180+ viewing angle.

what are the tips to shoot ice land in a bright day to acheive such level of details in a massive piece of whiteness?

As you may realise, ice land is not easy to capture with all the details. Details easily blown out if not being carefully. Maybe you can try the following:

Depending on what mode you are using on your camera. If you are on the A, S or P model, you need to use "+" in the +/- compensation setting. Coz the extra strong sunlight will fake you camera sensor and make it underexposure your photo if you are not doing this.

For my panorama, I am using M to achieve an unique exposure throughout the series of 8 to 10 photos, and then stitch them back into one panorama.

umm .... what else .... Spot metering will help as well. Metrix metering will not be working in this situation.

I am using Photoshop CS5. There is a 30 days free trial version for download up on the Adobe website. You can choose whether to purchase the software or not after 30 days of use.

thx for ur tips!

i see ur first photo is taken with the townscape. and this is the only one taken at evening time. is there a problem if u would shoot the townscape in a bright day？

for the other iceland photos, the brightness across the photo seems evenly very bright? why is there a difference choosing spot metering over metric metering? if i use A mode, would u suggest me to do spot metering on the sky part or the mountain part? (i assume the sky is always brighter).

would u try to shoot these pictures with some faces in the foreground? if i assume daylight is coming from all angles, then there may not be a problem with contrast in light condition (face is evenly bright as the background). is that what u experienced in Switzerland?

I like 1st & last photo.

1st - Darker key seems very match with the Europe old town feel

Last - I like to see more blue sky in landscape photo - personal taste ^^
