My business partner is sourcing Nikon gears recently due to his change over from Canon to Nikon.

We realise some of the popular camera model like D700 and some lenses are already out of stock.

Reason being stock can't come out from Japan as it is affected by the tsunami.

Not really sure what is the impact on the price in longer term as shortage already appears in Australia.

It is on the new everyday. We have a TV station called SBS and which is sort of running by the government.

It shows all the news from overseas ... People feel seriously bad about it.

But I guess it's a bit far from Jap, that's why it's not a bit hit in here tough =p

Absolutely right about the MiT & MiIndo.

My business partner Brock is sourcing camera bodies like D700 & D3s ... Seems like they are out of stock everywhere now.

We talked to a couple of big dealers in Australia, they said all those high end bodies will go from Jap to HK first, and then HK redistribute them into the Aisa-Pacific region.

Basically they can't see when will the next shipment coming into Australia now. As they were told Nikon shut down some of the factory already. Also Jap have some difficulties to shipping things out now.

The lucky things is I have a spare set of gears with me so we can share for the meanwhile.

He has some new lenses came in the other day. but seems like we are having no luck on the bodies.

亞典波羅 bro, Brock is quite lucky as I have D700 & D3s with me and we can share that for the meanwhile. But at the end of the day, he still need to get one in quickly. Otherwise if any one of our camera dead (very unlikely) in our wedding, then we will be in trouble. Also I hate changing lens on scene ....

D2c bro, yes are quite right. Coz the story is like this. I received an email from PMA one night and saying there is a lady photographer got broken into the studio and loss all the Canon gears. And she is after some quick replacement as she made an mistake by not declaring some gears to the insurance policy.

Then I told Brock about this, and then the two 7D bodies, and a couple of pro lens and flashes was sold to the lady in one go. That's a happy sale at the moment and the rest of Brock's gear goes to the ebay.

Coz it's an extremely expensive change over to another brand when we are talking about pro bodies, pro lenses, all the flashes, pocketwizards ..... We were very happy about having the cash flow back in such a short period of time.

But Tsunami happened two days after the transaction >.< and we were not able to find D700 anywhere (except grey market or extremely expensive shops)

Lucky Brock, he find one store still have a one D700 bodies left. Of course he is paying more to get the body now ...

Damn, i was going to buy a D7000 ( i'm in brisbane) But E-bay seller are $500 cheaper than the retailer here anyway.

I went to buy 5D2, from JB in Melbourne City last Month ( 20-FEB ), and and since 700D on special, and decide to buy the 700D ( AU$2100 ) as well, but the staff told me JB no longer stock them as new model D800 is coming soon.

carsonlee928, JB is correct that D800 is coming, but it gonna be a big delay now.

Coz Nikon has to make sure they have enough supply worldwide before they can release the new model.

But that camera body was destroyed in the Tsunami, it's gonna be a long while before it get back to normal.
