3 月 11 日發生的日本九級大地震舉世震驚，隨之而來的海嘯、核電廠爆炸更令災情加劇，身在遠處的香港市民也感受到切膚之痛。對攝影愛好者來說，更切身的是地震令到當地不少相機生產商的設備受損，據了解，Nikon、Canon、Sigma、Sony 等廠房因為受地震破壞或停電而受到不同程度的影響，預期將影響到有關器材的出口。而據聞多家廠商本身已於地震前部署將旗下鏡頭加價，暫時無法估計地震會對價格帶來甚麼影響。綜合各方報導，各廠商的災後情況大致如下︰

Canon 地震令位於宇都宮廠房的建築物屋頂坍塌，令該廠房的鏡頭生產被迫停止。此外，位於福島市的噴墨打印機生產線、茨城縣生產螢石及光學塗層的化工廠亦受到損害，預計需要要數天到十多天時間恢復。
Nikon 位於仙台的廠房受到破壞，該廠房主要為 D3 系列、D700、F6 等旗艦單反的生產基地，而位於櫪木縣的鏡頭及半導體生產線亦受到損害。
Sony 旗下六間於宮城縣和福島縣的工廠在地震發生後關閉生產設施，其中 Sony 化學和信息設備集團多賀城工廠受到海嘯直接沖擊受損，暫時無法估計有關工廠恢複運營的時間，受影響廠房主要負責半導體、鋰離子充電電池、IC 卡、磁帶、藍光光盤等部件的生產。
Sigma 福島縣的生產基地由於沒有電力供應，生產暫時停止，幸好沒有員工受傷。


作為攝影愛好者，我們除了關注地震對攝影器材的生產影響外，更加關心當地的災民、死傷者及其家屬，希望當地政府能盡快展開救災、重建等工作，防止地震帶來的災害進一步蔓延。

I can confirm on the news about shortage in supplies as well.

My business partner just recently sold (last week) all his Canon equipments and sourcing the Nikons. Basically the D700 & D3s is out of stock everywhere in Australia now.

I just reply in another post like this:

My business partner Brock is sourcing camera bodies like D700 & D3s ... Seems like they are out of stock everywhere now.

We talked to a couple of big dealers in Australia, they said all those high end bodies will go from Jap to HK first, and then HK redistribute them into the Aisa-Pacific region.

Basically they can't see when will the next shipment coming into Australia now. As they were told Nikon shut down some of the factory already. Also Jap have some difficulties to shipping things out now

I believe the price gonna goes up and shortage in the pro line camera.

Don't call them 奸商 la. There are a definite shortage on the pro gear range.

Coz the factory producing the D700 & D3s and some gold ring lenses are seriously damaged. No more supply for a while before they rebuilt the factory.

When there is shortage, $$$ definitely goes up. A normal market rule.

Seriously, D700 body is already out of stock everywhere in Australia.

quite a lot of nikon lens are NOT made in Japan so they won't be affected.
but those top expensive lens, like 24/1.4, 35/1.4, 85/1.4, 24-70, 70-200..etc are all made in Japan, sure the the supply will be terminated for a while, price will go up, as well as 2nd hand price.

In fact, supply was already tight before the disaster in HK.

Nikon Sony 先漲 is normal. Coz 4 main factories got destroyed are Nikon, Canon, Sony and Panasonic.

Nikon also announced they need to stop the japan production for a while and they have no idea when they can resume production.

So there are expected price increase in a short while.

Also for the next gen FX bodies gonna delay on the release day as well.
