I had a Canon 1D mark III for almost 2 years now and I am thinking to change all my canon gears to Sony, now looking for A900 or A850, is it well worth it? and which one is better between A900 and A850, thanks a lot for suggestions, a million thanks

I am using A900, I am not really know what's different to the A850; I guess the component inside. As a 900 user, I strongly suggest 900; its a hard working machine. But A Sony DSLR keeps all Minolta traditions, the camera depends on its photographer; it means you should know what you want and built-up your own skill. Canon and Nikon cameras may help you to think in some how, but Sony never. If you make anything wrong, the image comes out wrong too. Anyway, if you wnat the camera to work on heavy duty, choose 900.

I think you want to use the AF Carl Zeiss series lens, so you want to become a 900/850 user. They're real good, but depend on photographer's skill too. You should built up a set of Zeiss technique for the high contrast & vivid colour lens. Then, maybe you think that they're much better than Canon's L series.

Both are good choices.

A850 + Zeiss + G lens + 58 flash are cheaper and good combination.

I was A900 fans but finally gave up. The main reason was: noise.
The usable ISO 800 max. So you can imagine if you shot in dark or high speed, the result will be not too good.
I suggest to wait for next new FF series, I am sure Sony can do it.

i switched from nikon d300&d90 to a850+50 1.4 and za 24-70
it was indeed a right decision !
the noise problem is due to the high pixels. set to a small size and the iso can be raised to a usable 2000
