5D released almost 2 years la ....

30D ma .... around 1 year la :p (i bought 30D once it release hehe)

but to me 30D and 40D not much different..... from single shoot photo function point of view.

Cannot agree with you, 40D's iamge quality is definitely better than 30D, some experts did a test comparing 30D, 40D and 5D and on 8x10 print 40D's performance is as good as 5D!

One of the reasons is the upgrade of the D/A Converter from 30D's 12-Bit to 40D's 14 Bit

I just checked some information and compared the pictures between 30D an 40D, really as you say, the noise and dynamic range has been improved. (with others improvied too, errr... simplily say, image quality improved)

Frankly speaking, be a 30D user ... I will not upgrad my "old" 30D into 40D ... basically still 1.6x corp rate. My planning is upgrade to FF model (target : new model of 5D), to me, that may larger meaning of "model change/ upgarde"

As I am using 24 105 IS once it released :p (my only lense now) - FF will be greatly userful to me too :) (true 24mm ... )

I strongly agreed with you.

I am too a 30D user, and is also waiting for the next generation of 5D rather than upgrading my camera to 40D (if 40D has the function of multiple exposure, this will be another story), I am sure that the image quality on the new cam will be better than 40D.

There is no point to keep 2 APS-C bodies as I shoot for hobbies, not making a living.

I think Canon will have launch a new model better than 5D that call 3D. and a model fight with D300 that call 7D with price range HK$11000.
So the coming may have a big fight btween the 2 big manufacturer.
