Default lens is good. I recommend you keep it and buy a Sigma AF 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 APO Macro. You will have a range from 18-300mm.

The kit lens 18-70mm is already very good. I heard of too many unfair complaints on it. What can you expect such a lens with this good focal range, moderate aperture, and high quality ED glass at a price <$2000? I saw some samples from a friend who uses this lens in traveling. If you are not very picky, this lens actually beats many other lenses.
