Well, according to Bon Aktins (a self-proclaimed "Canon-guy"), tests have shown that the 8MP Canon 350D gives sharper and more detailed images than the 6MP Nikon D50 (it isn't very surprising, is it?). The D50 noise level is pretty low, as good as or possibly better than that of the 350D.

Canon is better for beginner~

Lens is relatively reasonable pricing~
It is expensive but quality is good~

Moreover, the adoptbility is good for adding perpherials

Low nosie in high ISO 1600~ I always use~

I have 350D
17-85 IS
70-300 IS

But you can purchase 350D + Tamron 18-200 if you want to save money~
